Sociology is concerned with man, his social relations and his society. Having sociological knowledge enhances us to study the different aspects of the social environment that we often don’t give much importance. Sociology provides a unique perspective that encourages us to look behind the outer aspects of our social life and distinguish its interior aspects and think critically about the belief that exists in the society. It gives us better information about how our society is organized, why it is organized, who is organizing, how it is working, and our social behavior and how our society has come to present situation. After reading sociology, we will be able to understand the society in which we live and their concerns and existing problems. It also allows us to think broader about the relationship between our personal experience and the whole social world.

Media brings out information to the people, takes people to the information, approaches people to think and make them realize about their responsibilities towards their nation, and this is possible only if the people related to media have knowledge about the society, role of public in the development of a country and overall social knowledge. Media plays vital role in strengthening the political, social, and as well as economic sector of a society. Media has changed the societies of world with the help of its sociological knowledge and its ability to differentiate between the rights and the wrongs. It can change opinions because they have access to people and this gives it a lot of strength. This strength can either be used constructively by educating the people or it can be used destructively by misleading the innocent people. So, it is necessary for media to acquire sociological information and help people to recognize the social problems, their causes and give them the solutions.
